Supernatural Authority

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome

Behold, I give you the authority to trample over serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you (Luke 10: 19 NKJV). The moment someone shows up claiming to have the right to do something, people will want to know, “Who sent you?” If someone knocked on your front door, and demanded to inspect your home appliances, you won’t just let him in – you would want to know on whose behalf he’s acting. Authority is a very important subject in everyday life, because you cannot act beyond the power of the one who sent you. To attempt to do that would be to put you in a dangerous position, where even the one who sent you cannot help you. As a child of God, it is important to know and understand the authority you’ve been given. The bible says about Jesus “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name that is above every name: That at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow, of things in heaven, of things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2: 9-11). That means angels, demons and all nature must obey any instruction issued in that Name. Jesus is in heaven, so who has the right to this supernatural authority? The Lord Jesus said, “…All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations…” (Matthew 28: 18-19). He’s talking to you! In His Name, you have the right to cast out devils, mobilize angels and tame the forces of nature. So, the authority you have is not from a commissioner, governor, or the president of the greatest country – it is the highest authority in the universe and it’s supernatural!
