Custodians Of The Gospel · Monday, June 11th · Pastor Chris

…peace be unto you. As my Father hath sent me even so send I you (John 20:21).
Pastor ChrisIn the verse above Jesus wasn’t only talking to Peter, James and John or the rest of the twelve disciples, but to every one of us who believe in Him. We have all been sent as missionaries of the Gospel to our respective spheres of contact; you’ve been sent as a custodian of the Gospel.
Many years ago, when I first read this verse, I felt the Lord was talking to me personally, and I still think so today. It’s such an honour to be entrusted with the Gospel. Your mandate is to populate the Kingdom of God by turning men, women and children from darkness to light, snatching them from the damnation of hell. When you realise yourself as a custodian of the Gospel, nothing will stop you from propagating it. Church history tells us of many who were martyred for taking the Gospel personal; they were resolute about the Gospel, not minding the agony of torture.
Consider for a moment the Apostle Paul. Despite fierce persecutions and predictions of danger to his life, he still declared: "But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God" (Acts 20:24). Observe again his inspiring words in 1 Timothy 1:11: "According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust…." No wonder Paul made so much impact with the Gospel.
Even today, there’re those who have been disowned by their families, rejected by friends, neighbours and colleagues for preaching the Gospel; but it’s all worth it! Whatever God deems fit for you to suffer as an individual, for His Name’s sake, do it gladly. No matter the harsh, intense or malicious persecutions you’ve faced, are facing or might still face for preaching the Gospel, don’t relent; for the Gospel has been committed to your trust. The day will come when the Lord will reward you for your faithfulness and dedication to His Gospel.
Prayer
What an honour to be the custodian of the glorious Gospel of the blessed Lord Jesus Christ! I dedicate myself to this great ministry today, bringing people in my sphere of contact into salvation, to experience the life, power and glory of God’s Kingdom, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
