And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life (1 John 5:11-12).
The Lord Jesus brought us life. The Bible says He brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel (2 Timothy 1:10). In John 5:26, He declared, "For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself." The life Jesus is referring to here is the God-life! When He walked the earth, the fullness of the Godhead tabernacled in Him; He had the totality of the God-life: "For it pleased the Father that in him should all fullness dwell" (Colossians 1:19).
If you’re born again, our opening verse says you have the same quality of life as Jesus: "…and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life…." This is a special kind of life; it’s life beyond this world! You’ve been called to such a glorious and triumphant life, where you dominate and reign over sickness, disease and the devil.
This life doesn’t coexist with sickness, disease, failure and death; it’s the miracle life of God. It’s the life that if a man would have, he shall live forever. A life that can’t be overcome by failure, defeat, poverty or darkness! It destroys stroke, fibroid, cancer, diabetes, HIV and all kinds of sicknesses and diseases! The consciousness of this reality is what gave Peter the daring faith to say to Aeneas, who was paralyzed and bedridden for eight years, "Jesus Christ makes you well!" And the Bible says he (Aeneas) arose immediately (Acts 9:33-34).
The reason there’re many around the world who are into different religions and cultism is that they believe there’s something more than the natural human life! Indeed, there is; it’s the transcendent life in Christ. However, that life is only for those who have received and confessed Christ Jesus as their Lord and Saviour! As a new creation in Christ, the divine life of God has completely supplanted the human life with which you were born of your parents; it’s life beyond this world!
Confession
I’ve received the Lord Jesus as my Lord and Saviour and have thus been translated into the glorious liberty of the sons of God! I’m conscious of the life of Christ in me, therefore I live the transcendent life today, above sickness, disease, pain, poverty, death and the devil, in the Name of Jesus. Amen.
