Rhapsody of Realities Daily Devotion
According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain
unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to
glory and virtue (2 Peter 1:3).
There’re three cardinal gifts of God in
Christ Jesus, given to us through the Gospel. These are the gift of eternal
life, the gift of righteousness, and the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Romans 6:23 tells us that, "…the
gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Eternal life
is the God-life given to you when you are born again. This life isn’t the same
as the human life; it’s the very life of God. You can’t work hard enough to
attain eternal life; you can’t get it by paying any price for it; it’s a gift
from God. Without eternal life, you won’t have the same nature with God;
there’ll be no fellowship, and therefore no relationship.
Righteousness is also a gift. Romans
5:17 says, "…they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of
righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ." Righteousness is
the nature of God that describes His rightness: It’s His nature and ability to
always be right. He is never wrong; and when He imparts that nature and ability
to your spirit, you can walk in consistency with His will and please Him with
your life, and you can stand in His presence without a sense of condemnation,
inferiority or guilt.
The Holy Spirit is also God’s gift to
us. The Apostle Peter said in Acts 2:38, "…Repent, and be baptized
every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye
shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." The Holy Spirit is God at work in
us. As a Christian, you need the Holy Spirit to live victoriously in Christ.
That’s why the Lord Jesus said, "...I will pray the Father, and he shall
give you another Comforter…" (John 14:16).
The Holy Spirit came to help you live
the Christian life because no ordinary person can live the Christian life. The
Holy Spirit gives you the understanding of God’s Word, awakens you to the
fatherhood of God, and reveals the will of the Father to you and through you.
The Holy Spirit gives you supernatural abilities to glorify God, and boldness
to make Jesus Christ known to your world.
These three gifts are very important to
us as Christians, because they represent the fulfilment of God’s will and
purpose in Christ Jesus. Study the Word and learn more about them.
Confession
I thank you Lord for blessing me with
the gifts of eternal life, righteousness, and the Holy Spirit. I’m conscious of
these gifts at work in me; I know I can do all things, through Christ that
strengthens me. Halleluiah!
