And
hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts
by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us (Romans 5:5).
1 John 4:17 says,
"…As He is, so are we in this world." As He is love, so are you also
called to walk in love. As He has loved you, so are you meant to love Him and
those for whom Jesus died.
Love can’t be hidden.
You can’t love in silence or in secret. Proverbs 27:5 says, "Open rebuke
is better than secret love." You ought to show and demonstrate love in
very practical ways; we’re to emulate the Lord’s example of love. John 3:16
tells us, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting
life."
Love that’s not
expressed can’t be received or reciprocated. God expressed His love to us
through the death of Jesus Christ on our behalf, so we could receive and
reciprocate His love. For the same reason, you must demonstrate love through
your actions, and speak the love-language. Love is one of the characteristic
fruits of your recreated human spirit (Galatians 5:22), therefore, it’s natural
for you to express divine love.
You’re to show love to
everyone; including those you may consider undeserving of love. Jesus said,
in Matthew 5:44: "...Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do
good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and
persecute you." Remember that God sent Jesus to die for us, even whilst we
were sinners; it had nothing to do with how "very nice and kind" we
were: it was a function of His grace (Romans 5:8).
You’re a product of
love, so look at others with the eyes of love. Everyone is valuable and
lovable, even sinners; therefore let your words and actions be full of love,
tenderness and compassion for all.
Confession I walk
in love because its my nature. Therefore, I express love, tenderness,
compassion and grace to everyone I meet today, showing them the warmth of the
Father, to the end that they might receive and share His love, in Jesus’ Name.
Amen.
