For
God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever
believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16).
God’s number one passion
is soul winning. His great concern for humans is understandable: He made man in
His own image and likeness which accounts for His unwillingness for any man to
perish. 2 Peter 3:9 says, "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise,
as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that
any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." The Lord’s
overwhelming passion to reconcile men to Himself is highlighted in the
assignment He gave to Jesus, buttressed by these words of the Master Himself:
"…I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more
abundantly" (John 10:10).
Again in John 4:34, He
emphasized His passion for soul winning when He said, "...My meat is to do
the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work." The Lord Jesus
Christ has in turn passed this same passion to the Church. He said in Mark
16:15, "…Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every
creature." As a Christian, above everything else, you’re to take the
responsibility of proclaiming the Gospel very seriously; do your utmost in this
regard.
In writing to the
Christians in Ephesus, the Apostle Paul, in Ephesians 2:12-13, describes the
hopelessness of a person without Christ: he’s alienated from the life of God,
and a stranger to the covenant of promise, having no hope, and without God in
the world. This should inspire you to pray for lost souls and preach the Gospel
with passion. Nothing should matter more to you than to see those for whom
Jesus died brought into their inheritance in Him.
If you’ve been
passionate about the message of the Gospel, keep at it, for it’s the only hope
for an ailing world. The Lord is counting on you for the salvation of many in
your world, and in the regions beyond. So be faithful in your responsibility as
a soul winner.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, I
thank you for entrusting me with the divine responsibility of reaching those in
my world and in distant lands with the message of eternal life. My passion for
lost souls is stirred today with renewed commitment, and I declare that the
light of your glorious Gospel is blazing intensely in the hearts of men,
destroying the bonds of religion and taking away darkness, in Jesus’ Name.
Amen.
