Pastor Chris
For
verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou
removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but
shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall
have whatsoever he saith (Mark 11:23).
On a certain day, the
Lord Jesus was hungry and came to a fig tree, hoping to find some fruits but
there was none, as it wasn’t yet time for figs. Responding, the Master said to
the tree, "… No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his
disciples heard it" (Mark 11:14). The next morning, as they passed by,
Peter saw that the tree had withered away, and he called the Master’s attention
to it saying, "Master, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst is
withered away" (Mark 11:21).
When Jesus talked to the
tree, it looked the same; it didn’t seem like a change had taken place. What
Peter and the other disciples didn’t know was that the roots of the tree in the
ground had died. Responding to Peter, Jesus said, "Have the faith of
God" (Mark 11:22). Then in verse 23, He continued, "…whosoever shall
say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and
shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he
saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith."
Here, the Lord Jesus was
teaching us the power of the spoken word; the power and dominion of the human
spirit. You were not created to be a victim in life. If you don’t like the way
your life is right now, you can change it. Never feel hemmed in; never feel
like you’re defeated or disadvantaged in life. If you don’t like the way your
life is going, Jesus has stated clearly that you can change it with your words.
Your mouth was given to
you to determine the course of your life. Your life is the character of your
words. Therefore, make your life beautiful with your words.
Prayer
My spirit is refreshed
and enlightened by the revelation of God’s Word to me today! What a joy, to
know that I can chart my course in life, in the direction of God’s destiny for
me! I walk in righteousness, victory, health and dominion today, and forever,
in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
