And
so it is written, the first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was
made a quickening spirit (1 Corinthians 15:45).
A
lot of folks trace their origin to Adam, the first man God created in the
Garden of Eden, referring to him as ‘the father of us all.’ Even some
Christians believe that the work of salvation consummated by the Lord Jesus was
to restore man to the glory Adam had when he was first created in the Garden of
Eden. But the truth is that when you’re born again, you’re not restored to the
glory of the first Adam. The Bible says “And so it is written, the first man
Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit…” (1
Corinthians 1 5:45).
The
first Adam was a living soul; he was alive with the breath of God in him, while
the second Adam—Jesus is a “quickening spirit.” That means “a life
giving-spirit” That’s why Jesus described Himself as “the way, the truth, and
the life…” (John 14:6). He is the Second and Last Adam. This Second Adam is the
fountain of life, and if you’re born again, you’re born after the similitude of
the Second Adam. That means you’re a life-giving spirit.
The
Second Adam is the origin of the new creation man in Christ Jesus. No wonder
the Bible says “…If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are
passed away; behold, all things are become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17). You’re
completely disconnected from the life and nature of the first Adam; you’re more
than a mere man. Right in your spirit, there’s a fountain of life bubbling!
This life is called Zoe, the life and nature of God: “…This is the record, that
God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son” (1 John 5:11).
You’re
a life-giver; you’re a dispenser of eternal verities, because you share the
similitude of the Second and Superior Adam! You’ve become a partaker of the divine
nature (2 Peter 1 :4), with a newness of life. Meditate on this truth and this
consciousness will drive you to superior and supernatural accomplishments
today. Glory to God!
