Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation. The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places...(Habakkuk 3:17-19).
The Christian is a victor, and not a victim; one with the inherent ability to victoriously blaze through obstacles and barriers. This is the reason you must never give up, irrespective of how dire the situation you’re facing might be. In the scripture above, the prophet described a dire situation, yet chose to rejoice in the Lord all the same. This is the right attitude for victory; you must refuse to be moved by what you see, feel or perceive, and rejoice continually in the Lord your God.
Always remember that the story isn’t complete until you’ve won! Things may not be going the way you expect at the moment, but don’t despair. Keep affirming your trust and confidence in the Lord by giving Him praise for perfecting all that concerns you. Refuse to give up, and rejoice in Him for being your deliverer and rescuer. Consider for a moment the inspiring story of Paul and Silas. Things couldn’t have looked more hopeless for them as they huddled in chains in the dark dungeon of a Roman prison. Instead of cringing in fear and hopelessness, they praised God all night long, and experienced a mighty deliverance (Acts 16:23-36).
Take some time today to praise the Lord for His goodness and love. Refuse to focus on the challenges or pain; just worship Him from your heart, knowing that your victory is inevitable. Trust Him to bring His power to bear on your situation as you worship Him in spirit and in truth.
Prayer
I’m of the true circumcision that worships God in the spirit, rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh. Therefore, it makes no difference what I feel or see; my victory is assured! I thank you Father, for making me a victor and giving me the mind-set of a champion, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
