Righteousness By Faith · Saturday, June 9th · Pastor Chris

Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they might be saved, for I bear them record that they…being ignorant of God’s righteousness and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God (Romans 10:1-3).
Pastor ChrisThe Apostle Paul in his epistle to the Romans decried the spiritual condition of the Jews, chiding them for being ignorant of God’s righteousness. This, sadly, is the situation with many in the Church today; being ignorant of God’s righteousness, they go about trying to establish their own righteousness. Isaiah 64:6 shows us the futility of self-righteousness: "But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf…."
In Philippians 3:8-9, the Apostle Paul shows us to embrace the righteousness which is by faith in Christ Jesus: "…that I may win Christ, and be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith." There’s a righteousness of God that’s based on the Law, but now, a righteousness from God by faith in Christ Jesus has been manifested.
This is a special kind of righteousness, which communicates the nature of God, and makes a man that has been a sinner to be completely transformed from the inside. It’s the righteousness, which God calls all sinners to partake of, irrespective of their sins. It’s that righteousness, which is imparted to the human spirit and by which a man is justified; that’s why it’s called righteousness without the deeds of the Law.
This righteousness produces in you the rightness of God, such that by instinct you know what is right, and are able to live righteously unto God. You didn’t work to attain it, yet it works in you, having been imparted to your spirit as a gift: "…much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ" (Romans 5:17).
Prayer
Dear Father, I rejoice to know that having embraced the righteousness which is by the faith of Christ, I can live joyfully today and forever in your presence, without guilt, fear or condemnation! Thank you for this wonderful blessing in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
