The Lord bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought: he maketh the devices of the people of none effect. The counsel of the Lord standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations (Psalm 33:10-11).
Be careful about seeking or receiving counsel from unbelievers, especially on issues that are already clearly addressed in God’s Word. The Bible tells us that where there’s no counsel, the people fall; but through excellent counsel there’s victory (Proverbs 11:14). The word counsel here doesn’t refer to just any form of advice, but the counsel that comes from God’s Word. You must make personal efforts to search God’s Word for the necessary guidance and direction you need in life.
When God’s Word is in you, you’re able to make accurate judgments and give sound counsel on issues of life. Proverbs 19:21 says, "There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand." What you need in your life is the counsel of God that comes from His Word. Nothing else would work. It’s the only answer to the many problems in the world today. So be wise and seek counsel from God’s Word.
Prayer
Dear heavenly Father, I’ve made up my mind to walk in the light of your Word, and hearken to your counsel. Your perfect will for my life is unveiled before me through your Word, and I take my steps in victory, today, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
