Your Primary Assignment · Wednesday, June 20th · Pastor Chris

And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ (Ephesians 4:11-12).
Pastor ChrisYour primary assignment in life is to do the work of the ministry; this is your highest calling; everything else is secondary. You may be a politician, a medical doctor or a lawyer, which is great, but leading men and women into righteousness is your primary responsibility here on earth. You may say, "But I’m not a pastor"; well, the work of the ministry is not for pastors or evangelists only, but also for the saints of God, and that includes you.
This is the point the Apostle Paul, in our opening verse, brings across to us. God gave the fivefold ministry gifts to the Church, "For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry…" (Ephesians 4:12). The work of the ministry is the reconciliation of the world to God. You have a divine mandate to turn men from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God.
Realize that you’ve been entrusted with the Gospel message; and it’s a message that works: "According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust" (1 Timothy 1:11). Being born again, this message is now in you and working in you; you’re therefore required to help others receive it and have it produce results in their lives too.
You’re supposed to go out to where you work, where you live, and to all you’re in contact with, and witness to them! Make them partakers of all of the blessings of heaven in you as you take the message of the Gospel to them and those in the regions beyond. That’s your highest calling; it’s your work of service to the Master and the proof that you truly believe in Him.
Prayer
Dear Father, I thank you for bringing me into union with your Son, Jesus, and imparting to me an unquenchable passion for lost souls. By the power of your Spirit, I saturate my world with the knowledge of your Word and men are drawn willingly into the light of your Kingdom today, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
