"Build According To The Pattern…"· Sunday, July 1 · Pastor Chris
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
When God wanted Moses to build the tabernacle in the Old Testament, He showed him in a vision exactly what He wanted, and also told him how to get the materials (Exodus 25:1-9, 40). Moses went forth and did as God said, and had it built (Exodus 39:42-43).
Many years later, when David had a desire to build a temple, God gave him all the specifications for the structure and the materials to use. He also told him he wouldn’t be the builder, but that his son, Solomon, would build the structure instead. David gave the design blueprint and God’s instructions to Solomon (1 Chronicles 28:10-20), who built it as specified.
This is the way God does with our lives. He always gives you what you need to build you a great life. Notice what Paul wrote to Timothy in the opening scripture: "All scripture is given by inspiration of God…That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works." It would have been unrealistic for Timothy to desire to be perfect and fully-equipped for every good work whilst ignoring the Scriptures. He was told that if he wanted to have a perfect and complete life, the scriptures had been given him for that purpose.
Now, we know this wasn’t written for Timothy alone. So if you want to have a great life, then all Scriptures have been given you to build that life. Do you want to be sound in spirit, mind, and body? Do you want to make an impact in your world and do everything God wants you to do? If your answer is "yes," as I’m sure it is, then don’t neglect the Scriptures. Get hold of the Word and use it to build the life of God’s dream for you!
Prayer
Dear heavenly Father, I thank you for your Word of grace and power that builds me up and grants me my inheritance among the sanctified. I receive wisdom and direction from your Word, and your Word guides me in all my affairs and causes me to experience victory and success at every count, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
