A Goodly Heritage · Saturday, June 23rd ·Pastor Chris

The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage (Psalms 16:6).

Pastor ChrisA careful study of the verse above gives a clearer picture of what the Psalmist had in mind when he made this affirmative declaration. By saying "The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places," he implied that there had been an apportioning of "property" but his own portion had a treasure in it. Now, this treasure could have been oil, gold, diamond etc. Overwhelmed with joy as a result of this discovery, he rejoiced that he had been given a goodly heritage; an awesome inheritance!
The Psalmist found out his inheritance was better than that of the others; but notice he didn’t have anything to do with the apportioning; he didn’t work for it! All he did was to accept and proclaim what he got. This is your story as a child of God. An awesome inheritance has been delivered to you; you’ve been brought into a large place of irreversible dominion, success and prosperity. 1 Peter 3:9 says, you’ve been called to inherit a blessing. Everything that pertains to life and godliness has been granted you in Christ Jesus (2 Peter 1:3).
What you need is to learn more about your "goodly heritage"; your awesome inheritance in Christ. Just as you won’t find oil, gold or diamond on the surface, except you dig deeper into the earth, you have to dig deep into the Word of God to discover the treasures of your inheritance in Christ. You have to search the scriptures to know all the good things that freely belong to you in Christ, and appropriate them to your life and circumstances. Once you get to know what the Word says belongs to you, take possession by faith, and declare it loud and clear! Proclaim it and make it yours for His glory.
Confession
The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage! My portion is the right one! I don’t need to struggle for any good thing in life, because God is my chosen and assigned portion; He has brought me to a good place and maintains my lot.
