Likewise reckon ye also
yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ
our Lord (Romans 6:11).
To be "alive to God" means to be awakened to
His reality and realm of life; it is to be in conscious fellowship with God.
Ephesians 2:1 says, "And you hath he quickened (made alive), who were dead
in trespasses and sins." This isn’t a promise of something God is going to
do; He’s already done it! You’re alive to God! Declare this with joy always:
"I’m dead to sin, but alive unto God!" Since you’re alive to God and
He’s real to you, you can hear and know His voice; you can know His thoughts,
His will, and walk in His divine destiny for your life.
The non-Christian isn’t alive to God; he’s alive to sin
and dead to the realities of the heavenly realm. When we talk about hearing
God’s voice, he wonders how anyone can claim that the almighty God speaks to
him. Well, yes, God speaks to us and we hear Him, because we’re alive to Him.
That’s our place; that’s our realm of life. Glory to God!
The one who’s not alive to God is easily rattled and
discomfited in the face of adversity. When challenges come, he frets and wonders,
"Where can I get help?" However, when you’re alive to God, He becomes
your help. Someone you know may be facing a terribly hopeless situation,
like a cancerous growth that has metastasized, and you’re thinking, "Well,
we’ll get him the best medical care in the world." You can call the best
doctors and things may not change. But there’s one Doctor you can call and be
assured that everything will be all right. His Name is Jesus! But, you’ve got
to be alive unto Him first!
When you’re alive to God, His light shines in your
spirit; His Word works in you: you become alive to His righteousness, wisdom,
and grace! You receive counsel and guidance from your spirit because you’re one
with Him (1 Corinthians 6:17). If you’ve not been born again, I encourage you
to give your heart to Christ even now, and become awakened to the fatherhood of
God. Say, "Heavenly Father, I confess Jesus Christ as Lord of my life. I
believe that He died for me, and that You raised Him from the dead for my
salvation. I receive eternal life into my heart now, in Jesus’ Name.
Amen."
Prayer Dear
Lord, I thank you for your light that shines in my heart, and the power of your
Word that transforms my life from glory to glory. I declare that I’m alive to
your righteousness, grace, and the realities of the Kingdom of God, in Jesus’
Name. Amen.
